How much should an HVAC company charge per hour?

Why is my required rate so much higher than the tech’s wage?

Because the wage is only the first step. Burden, non-billable time, and shop/truck overhead all land on the hours you can actually invoice — then margin sits on top of that cost.

Service vs install — same calculator?

Yes — same P1 math. Use different utilization and overhead presets (or your books) for service-heavy vs install-crew days. Many shops keep two labor rates for that reason.

Should parts be in this rate?

Usually no. This tool is the labor bill rate. Price parts and equipment on their own lines with markup, then use job pricing when you need a full install bid.
